LIVERPOOL, England — Everton says striker Samuel Eto’o has completed a transfer to Serie A club Sampdoria on a two-and-a-half-year contract.

The 33-year-old Eto’o joined Everton on a free transfer last August, and scored four times in 20 appearances before moving back to Italy, where he used to play for Inter Milan.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez says, "we thank Samuel for his efforts" and "he passed on some of his terrific experience to all of the young players in particular."

Eto’o has won the Champions League with Barcelona and Inter, and has also been named African footballer of the year four times.
