FLORENCE, Italy — Fiorentina has appealed Juan Cuadrado’s one-match ban after the midfielder was sent off in Wednesday’s 2-1 loss to Napoli.

Cuadrado, who had earlier been booked for diving, was shown a second yellow card for simulation after going down in the area under a challenge by Gokhan Inler in stoppage time.

On Thursday, Fiorentina asked for video evidence to be used to clear Cuadrado and annul the automatic one-match ban which would see the midfielder miss Saturday’s match at AC Milan.

The club says "from the television images you can clearly see the good faith of our footballer, who is recognized by all as a player who lives the game with joy and professionalism and does not fall into the category of divers."
