LYON, France — Highly rated midfielder Nabil Fekir has pledged his immediate future to Lyon and wants to experience Champions League football with his club next season.

The 21-year-old Frenchman, who recently broke into the national side, has been one of the Ligue 1’s best players, scoring 12 goals and setting up nine in Lyon’s title race with Paris Saint-Germain.

His performances have drawn strong interest, including English Premier League side Arsenal reportedly.

Fekir says "I want to stay here. I feel good at this club," and that "if we get to play in the Champions League next season, it will be a very good thing."

Leaving for a bigger club does not interest Fekir at this stage because "there’s no point if it means sitting on the bench."
