BREMEN, Germany — Germany youth international Levin Oztunali is joining Werder Bremen on loan from Bundesliga rival Bayer Leverkusen.
Bremen says in a statement that the 18-year-old midfielder, grandson of former Germany great Uwe Seeler, will stay through June 2016.
Bremen coach Viktor Skripnik says, "I could observe his progress regularly because he always made life difficult for us with Hamburger SV’s youth sides."
Oztunali joined Leverkusen from Hamburg in 2013, going on to make one Champions League and six Bundesliga appearances for the club.
Leverkusen says South Korean attacking midfielder Ryu Seung-woo will remain on loan at Eintracht Braunschweig for the rest of the season. Ryu has scored four goals in 12 second-division games for Braunschweig since his summer switch.
