MADRID, Spain — Getafe substitute Baba Diawara scored two minutes from time to salvage a 1-1 draw at home against Cordoba in the Spanish league on Friday.
Midfielder Patrick Ekeng scored in the 78th to put Cordoba on the verge of its first victory in its first season in the top flight in 42 years.
But left back Javier Escudero capped his strong showing by using one touch to cross the ball for Diawara to tap in the equalizer.
Getafe almost grabbed the winning goal in stoppage time, when Diawara headed high before Escudero clipped the upright.
The draw left Cordoba level on points with four other teams at the bottom of the table before the other four play this weekend.
Getafe moved into a provisional 12th place in the 20-team league.
