BERLIN — Branimir Hrgota’s injury-time equalizer salvaged a 1-1 draw for Borussia Moenchengladbach at Hamburger SV and left the home side in Bundesliga relegation trouble on Sunday.

Zoltan Stieber’s 73rd-minute strike looked enough to lift struggling Hamburg away from the relegation zone one week after the side suffered its worst ever league defeat in the 8-0 loss at Bayern Munich.

But Hrgota scored with a header from a corner in the 92nd to earn a point and consolidate third place.

‘Gladbach made the better start, with Max Kruse going close and Patrick Herrmann striking the post in the fifth minute.

The second half was an uneventful affair until Artjoms Rudnevs set up Stieber to curl his effort inside the far post on a counterattack.

Hrgota cut the Hamburg celebrations short.
