MONTREAL — The Montreal Impact have denied reports that striker Didier Drogba will play in Italy after the Major League Soccer playoffs.

Italian media reports this week said Drogba may be loaned to Bologna F.C. in January.

Joey Saputo is president of both Bologna and the Impact.

"The Impact denied those rumours on Tuesday," the club said in a statement. "The Italian club, the Impact, nor Drogba have ever discussed this possibility."

Drogba joined Montreal in July and is signed through the 2016 MLS season. The former Chelsea legend has 12 goals in 13 games for the Impact.
