LONDON — Leyton Orient’s 112-year stay in the English Football League is over.
The Italian-owned London club’s relegation from the fourth and lowest professional division was confirmed Saturday by a 3-0 loss to Crewe.
Orient is on its fifth manager of the season in Omer Riza and the existence of the club remains in potential danger due to financial problems, with wages going unpaid.
Controversial Italian owner Francesco Becchetti has enraged fans with a string of decisions and comments. If Orient stays in business, it will be playing in the fifth-tier semi-professional National League next season.
