MONACO — Monaco’s veteran defenders Eric Abidal and Ricardo Carvalho have signed one-year contract extensions, keeping them at the Ligue 1 club until 2015.
The duo formed a key part of the side which finished runners-up to Paris Saint-Germain last season, with Abidal making 26 league appearances and the 36-year-old Carvalho missing just one of Monaco’s top-flight matches.
Both joined Monaco on one-year contracts last summer.
Abidal, who is 34, signed from Barcelona shortly after recovering from liver cancer, while Carvalho arrived from Real Madrid.
