NEWCASTLE, England — Newcastle has added Emmanuel Riviere to its collection of French players by signing the forward from Monaco.

The 24-year-old Riviere, who scored 13 goals in 36 appearances last season, is Newcastle’s fifth recruit in the summer transfer window. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Riviere says “my dream was always to play in the Premier League and Newcastle have given me the opportunity to realize that.”

He is the seventh Frenchman in the Newcastle squad, with compatriot Remy Cabella joining earlier this week from Montpellier.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew says Riviere is an “important signing because the striking area is one we really had to improve.”
