NEWCASTLE, England — Newcastle says it will likely be without Siem de Jong for a “number of months” after the Netherlands playmaker injured his right thigh in training with the Premier League side this week.

De Jong joined Newcastle from Ajax in the off-season and was viewed as a key member of Alan Pardew’s side this season.

De Jong played in Newcastle’s last two games after recovering from an injury in pre-season.
