Manchester City confirmed on Monday that Pep Guardiola will take over as manager beginning next season, but he actually had the opportunity to join the club as a player in 2005.
As reported at the time by the BBC, Man City’s manager Stuart Pearce wanted to bring in Guardiola for a trial after he left Al-Ahli in Qatar.
The current Bayern manager eventually opted to join Dorados for six months in Mexico before retiring in 2006.
It took nearly 11 years, but City finally got their man to sign on the dotted line.
