Paris Saint-Germain defender Serge Aurier has apologized to the Champions League referee he insulted on social media after the French club ousted Chelsea from the competition.

Aurier posted an offensive video on Facebook last Wednesday after PSG advanced to the quarterfinals on away goals.

The 22-year-old Ivory Coast international, who is currently injured, took to Twitter on Tuesday "to ask Mr. Kuipers, his assistants and all referees for forgiveness following my post-match reaction at Chelsea."

Aurier is facing sanctions after he insulted Bjorn Kuipers, who sent off PSG forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the first half at Stamford Bridge. UEFA’s disciplinary will meet Thursday to discuss his case.

Aurier said he lost his temper because of the "frustration of being injured for such a match."
