Rapids’ Pareja, Thomas suspended one game

The Colorado Rapids say they've received a first-round 2015 MLS SuperDraft pick, allocation money and a contract buyout from FC Dallas as compensation for coach Oscar Pareja's leaving to take the same job with his former club. (Chris Schneider/AP)

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — Colorado Rapids coach Oscar Pareja and defender Hendry Thomas have been suspended one game by MLS for their actions against San Jose last week.

Both will serve their suspensions Wednesday when the Rapids travel to Chicago. They each drew fines from the league as well.

Pareja drew a suspension when he left his area and entered the field of play. That automatically results in a suspension according to league policy. He will not be allowed to be on the sideline or in the locker room in Chicago.

Hendry was suspended for a reckless play on Earthquakes defender Steven Beitashour in the first half.
