MADRID — Real Madrid says Spain forward Alvaro Morata will rejoin the team for the upcoming season.
The Spanish club says it has informed Juventus that it will use its option to bring the player back to Madrid.
The club said on Tuesday that Morata "will join up with the first team for preseason training under the command of Zinedine Zidane."
Real Madrid will reportedly pay 30 million euros to buy back the forward from the Italian club. It originally sold him for nearly 22 million euros in 2014.
Morata, who had publicly expressed his desire to return to Madrid, is starting for Spain at the European Championship in France. The 23-year-old forward scored twice in the team’s 3-0 win over Turkey on Friday.
