MADRID — Real Madrid says it has signed 18-year-old winger Marco Asensio from Mallorca for six seasons although he will stay with the Balearic Island club until the end of this campaign.
Madrid said in a short statement on Friday that it "has arrived at an agreement with Mallorca for the transfer of Marco Asensio."
Asensio, the son of a Dutch mother and a Basque father, has played for Spain’s youth teams and scored three goals since he began playing for Mallorca’s senior team in 2013.
Financial details were not mentioned in Madrid’s statement, but Spanish sports media reported that the transfer fee was 3.7 million euros ($4.5 million).
