TURIN, Italy — Juventus’ transfer campaign has taken another hit with the announcement that Czech Republic forward Patrik Schick will not be joining the club due to a reported heart problem.

The Champions League runner-up says it "confirms that, in agreement with Sampdoria, it has decided not to finalize the transfer."

Schick began medical exams with Juventus in June and was checked again last week.

Juventus was prepared to pay Sampdoria a transfer fee of 30 million euros ($35 million) for the 21-year-old Schick, who scored 11 goals for Sampdoria in his first season in Italy.

Juventus has also lost two key starters with defender Leonardo Bonucci heading to rival AC Milan and fullback Dani Alves leaving for Paris Saint-Germain.

However, Juventus also announced Tuesday that Poland goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny successfully completed his medical tests with the club ahead of a proposed transfer from Arsenal for a reported fee of 12 million euros ($14 million), plus 3 million euros ($3.5 million) in bonuses.

Szczesny spent the last two seasons on loan with Roma.

Juventus is also near to concluding a deal for AC Milan fullback Mattia De Sciglio.
