Toronto FC announced Wednesday that midfielder and captain Michael Bradley has been diagnosed with a calf strain and is expected to be out of action for the next seven to 10 days.
Bradley picked up the injury while on national team duty for the United States as this month’s CONCACAF Gold Cup. He returned to Toronto this week but didn’t train with TFC on Tuesday, and had a scan later in the day that revealed the strain.

The American midfielder will sit out the Reds’ road game against New England this Saturday, and will likely miss next Wednesday’s home match against Orlando. He could return for TFC’s home game on Aug. 8 against Kansas City.
Bradley was supposed to fly out to Denver and participate in Wednesday’s MLS All Star Game against Tottenham. But TFC coach Greg Vanney confirmed Tuesday that his captain wouldn’t travel to Colorado.
Bradley has two goals and four assists in 15 games in all competitions this season.
Also, TFC top scorer Sebastian Giovinco has been dealing with a heel injury, and won’t play in the All Star Game—his spot on the All Star roster has been taken by teammate Jozy Altidore.
Toronto will also be without suspended midfielder Collen Warner on Saturday, while left fullback Astone Morgan is questionable with an abductor strain.
The club’s top scorer this season with 13 goals, Giovinco is day-to-day and remains questionable for Saturday’s contest in New England.
