NEW YORK — Damien Perquis’ anger over an incident last weekend has cost the Toronto FC defender.

Perquis was fined Wednesday by Major League Soccer for instigating and escalating a post-game confrontation after Toronto’s 2-0 loss to expansion New York City FC on Saturday.

Perquis was angry after being hit in the back of the head by New York’s Andrew Jacobson. TFC had requested the league review the hit, but there was no disciplinary action taken against Jacobson.

Vancouver Whitecaps defender Kendall Watson was also fined for embellishment in the 10th minute of Vancouver’s match on Saturday against New York Red Bulls.

The amounts of the fines were not disclosed.
