Toronto FC will host a friendly match against Barclays Premier League club Manchester City on Wednesday, May 27 at BMO Field. The game will kick off at 7:30 p.m.

“We are very excited to play Manchester City at BMO Field this season. Hosting a club like Manchester City is a great opportunity for our players to compete against one of the biggest clubs in the world,” said Toronto FC General Manager Tim Bezbatchenko.

“In addition, to our home opener on May 10, the Amway Canadian Championship and a number of home matches through the spring and summer, BMO Field will also play host to the CONCACAF Gold Cup giving fans an exciting summer of soccer in Toronto.”

“We are very excited about the game against Toronto FC. We know from our visit to Vancouver in 2011 the passion for the club which exists in Canada. We have a very active supporters’ group in Toronto, and are looking forward to bringing our team to showcase their talents to our fans there,” said Ferran Soriano, Man City’s Chief Executive.

City finishes its BPL season on May 24 against Southampton. TFC has home matches versus the Portland Timbers on May 23 and San Jose Earthquakes on May 30, so the Reds won’t have to travel between any of the games.

Man City is the current holder of the Premier League and has four first division/BPL titles in its history. The Citizens also have five FA Cups and three League Cups in their trophy cabinet.
