Toronto FC’s Giovinco named MLS player of the week

There are not enough words to describe how good Sebastian Giovinco has been for Toronto FC and the MLS, putting in yet another dominant performance on Saturday to add to his goal total.

Toronto FC forward Sebastian Giovinco was named Major League Soccer’s player of the week Wednesday.

Giovinco registered his fourth career hat trick — the second in four matches — in helping Toronto earn six points and tie a club record with four straight victories. The four three-goal performances leave Giovinco just one short of the league record shared by nine players.

Giovinco led Toronto FC to a 4-1 home win over New England Revolution on Saturday. The squad also beat Real Salt Lake 1-0 at BMO Field on Wednesday.

Toronto FC resumes action Saturday night hosting the Houston Dynamo at BMO Field.
