Tottenham striker Kane could return against Real Madrid

James Sharman, Craig Forrest and Danny Dichio look ahead to Matchday 4 in the UEFA Champions League.

LONDON — Tottenham striker Harry Kane is back in training and could face Real Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Kane missed last week’s losses to West Ham in the League Cup and Manchester United in the Premier League because of a left hamstring injury.

"We are very confident he is on the list," Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino said Tuesday. "We have one more day to assess him. But it may be possible he can be available tomorrow. I don’t want to say 100 per cent. He trained today but it is important we make the right decision."

Kane is Tottenham’s top scorer this season with 13 goals in all competitions, including five in the Champions League.

Tottenham and Madrid are leading the way in Group H with seven points apiece after three games. The teams drew 1-1 on Oct. 17 in the Spanish capital. APOEL and Borussia Dortmund both have one point.
