NYON, Switzerland — UEFA charged Galatasaray, Borussia Dortmund and Basel on Thursday for fan disorder at Champions League matches.

UEFA said the cases involve a range of “crowd disturbances,” and throwing lit fireworks and objects at matches on Wednesday.

The cases will be judged on Oct. 16 by UEFA’s disciplinary panel. Sanctions could apply before the teams’ next matches the following week.

Galatasaray fans threw lit flares onto the pitch during a 4-1 loss at Arsenal, briefly delaying play in the first half.

Because UEFA rules make home teams responsible for stadium security, Arsenal has been charged with “insufficient organization.”

Borussia Dortmund faces the same charges as Galatasaray for crowd disorder and fireworks during a 3-0 win at Anderlecht.

Basel is charged for fans throwing an object during a 1-0 home win against Liverpool.

UEFA already put the Swiss champion on a two-year probation for crowd trouble in the Europa League last season.
