UEFA picks Clattenburg to referee Champions League final

NYON, Switzerland — UEFA says English official Mark Clattenburg will referee the Champions League final between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.

The final is on May 28 at the San Siro in Milan.

Also, UEFA picked Swedish referee Jonas Eriksson to handle the Europa League final between Liverpool and Sevilla on May 18 in Basel, Switzerland.

Clattenburg has handled six Champions League matches this season, including two involving Atletico Madrid and one for Real Madrid.

The 41-year-old Englishman will complete a cup final double after handling the FA Cup final between Manchester United and Crystal Palace at Wembley Stadium on May 21.

Clattenburg has also been picked by UEFA to referee at the European Championship in France.
