OTTAWA – Veteran Canadian international Julian de Guzman has re-signed with Ottawa Fury FC of the North American Soccer League.

The 34-year-old de Guzman helped the Fury to the NASL final, although he had to miss the championship game to captain Canada in a World Cup qualifier. Ottawa lost 3-2 to the New York Cosmos.

"The experience and leadership that Julian de Guzman brings to this club is extremely valuable," head coach Paul Dalglish said in a statement. "He offers us as much on the field as he does off it."

Fellow Canadian midfielder Mauro Eustaquio also re-signed.

The Fury announced earlier this week that it had granted the transfer requests of defender Ryan Richter, midfielder Sinisa Ubiparipovic and midfielder/captain Richie Ryan.
