LONDON — West Ham United says it has completed the signing of England midfielder Stewart Downing from Liverpool on a four-year contract.
The 29-year-old Downing, who is West Ham’s fifth summer signing, says "it’s a great opportunity for me being here. It’s a great club and I’m really excited to get going. I’m ready and I’m fit for the first game against Cardiff City."
Downing has played 34 times for England and made 91 appearances for Liverpool in his two years at the club, where he won the 2012 League Cup. West Ham did not disclose financial details.
