Sportsnet Leads the Pack, Bringing Fans the Biggest and Best Cycling Coverage in 2014

TORONTO (May 9, 2014) Sportsnet is taking cycling fans on a Grand Tour this spring and summer, delivering full coverage of all stages of the three biggest cycling events in the world: the Giro d’Italia, the Vuelta a Espãna, and the prestigious Tour de France. Coverage begins today with Stage 1 of the Giro d’Italia at 12:30 p.m. ET/9:30 a.m. PT on Sportsnet ONE (links to full broadcast schedules below).

 

Canadian fans can cheer on Ryder Hesjedal as he looks for success once again at the Giro d’Italia following his 2012 victory at the same race, where he became the first Canadian to ever win a Grand Tour. Hesjedal faces a competition field of 198 other riders during the gruelling 21-stage, 24-day event that begins today in Belfast, Ireland before heading to Italy.

 

With more than 400 hours of cycling on Sportsnet in 2014, fans will have more access to coverage of the world’s biggest races than ever before. In addition to the Grand Tours, Sportsnet also has coverage of the Amgen Tour of California, UCI Mountain Bike World Cup, and the Tour of Beijing in 2014. This year also marks the inaugural broadcast of Tour de France on Sportsnet; the first year of a six-year exclusive Canadian broadcast agreement than runs through 2019.
