Maria Sharapova will lead Russia against Spain in the Fed Cup next month.
It will be Sharapova's third appearance for Russia. The three-time Grand Slam champion won both of her singles matches against Israel in 2008 but lost in opening singles against France last year.
Russia captain Shamil Tarpischev also named two-time Grand Slam winner Svetlana Kuznetsova, No. 31 Nadia Petrova and Australian Open quarter-finalist Ekaterina Makarova for the Feb. 4-5 best-of-five series on the indoor hard court at the Olympic Arena in Moscow.
Russia has won the Fed Cup title four times since 2004 and is 5-1 against Spain, which won the title five times between 1991 and 1998.
