PARIS — Julien Benneteau and Edouard Roger-Vasselin won their first Grand Slam title by defeating Spaniards Marc Lopez and Marcel Granollers 6-3, 7-6 (1) in the men’s doubles final of the French Open on Saturday.

They became the first French team to win the men’s doubles at Roland Garros since Yannick Noah and Henri Leconte in 1984.

They broke for a 5-3 lead in the opening set. They won the last four points in the tiebreaker and clinched the victory when Lopez netted a volley.

Granollers and Lopez were bidding to become the first Spanish team to win the men’s doubles at the French Open since Sergio Casal and Emilio Sanchez in 1990.
