Bouchard eliminated at Shenzhen Open in China

Eugenie Bouchard starts her 2016 season losing in straight sets at the Shenzhen Open quarter finals to unseeded Timea Babos of Hungary.

SHENZHEN, China – Canadian tennis pro Eugenie Bouchard was eliminated Thursday from the Shenzhen Open in China.

The sixth-seed from Westmount, Que., lost her quarter-final match 6-4, 6-4 to unseeded Timea Babos of Hungary.

Bouchard has easily advanced to the quarters on Tuesday by defeating unseeded American Nicole Gibbs 6-4, 6-2.

This was Bouchard’s first significant tournament since recovering from a concussion she suffered at the U.S. Open last September.
