MELBOURNE, Australia — Canadians Vasek Pospisil and Daniel Nestor didn’t play on Friday at the Australian Open, yet both are still in contention in the men’s doubles tournament.

The ninth-ranked team of Pospisil and his American partner Jack Sock advanced to the third round by walkover in their scheduled doubles match against Robin Haase, of the Netherlands, and Spain’s Fernando Verdasco.

Nestor and his partner Radek Stepanek, of the Czech Republic, didn’t make it on the court due to rain at Melbourne Park.

Their second round match against Poland’s Lukasz Kubot and Marcin Matkowski was postponed until Saturday.
