MARRAKECH, Morocco — Third-seeded Yvonne Meusburger of Austria beat Petra Cetkovska of the Czech Republic 6-3, 6-3 Monday to reach the second round of the Grand Prix SAR.
Although Meusberger dropped her own serve four times in the match, she broke Cetkovska’s seven times and improved to 3-1 against her in their career meetings. Meusberger next faces either South African Chanelle Scheepers or Estrella Cabeza Candela of Spain.
Last year’s runner-up Lourdes Dominguez Lino of Spain also advanced after beating Alla Kudryavtseva of Russia 6-2, 7-5, and next plays either top-seeded Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia or Czech Renata Voracova.
In the day’s other first-round match, Shahar Peer of Israel won 6-2, 6-3 against Petra Martic of Croatia.
