Montreal move to 2-0 with win over Bishop’s

Rotrand Sene rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown as the Montreal Carabins rolled over the Bishop’s Gaiters 44-18 in Canadian university football action Friday.

Sene, who left the game in the second quarter with a knee injury, combined with Nicolas Dubeau for a combined 291 rushing yards for the host Carabins.

“We have two very good running backs in our team and I think the fans discovered tonight,” said Carabins coach Danny Maciocia.

Gabriel Cousineau completed 11-of-18 passes for 137 yards and a touchdown for third-ranked Montreal (2-0).

Pierre-Luc Varhegyi entered the game late in the third quarter and completed 4-of-5 passes for 77 yards and two touchdowns for the host Carabins.

The No. 10 Gaiters (1-1) abandoned their running game, rushing the ball just six times for 21 yards.

No. 5 Calgary, 34 Regina 27

At Regina, Andrew Buckley threw a 89-yard touchdown pass to Elie Bouka, and Mercer Timmins scored on a pair of short runs, in the fifth-ranked Dinos’ (2-0) win over the Rams (0-2).

McGill 32, Concordia 19

At Montreal, Luis Guimont-Mota rushed for 111 yards and two touchdowns, as the McGill Redmen (1-1) defeated Concordia (0-2). Reid Quest passed for 312 yards for the Stingers.

Saint Mary’s 14, Acadia 11

At Halifax, the Saint Mary’s Huskies (1-0) managed just 142 yards in offence, but kicked off their season with a win over two-time defending AUS conference champion Acadia.
