U Sports Roundup: Streaking Laval routs Bishop’s

QUEBEC — Quarterback Hugo Richard threw three touchdown passes as the Laval Rouge et Or won their sixth straight game in convincing fashion, routing the Bishop’s Gaiters 44-0 on Sunday in Canadian university football action.

Richard completed 21-of-25 passes for 256 yards and rushing three times for another 23 yards as Laval (6-1) held on to first place in the RSEQ conference. Domenic Levesque kicked a field goal, five converts and added two rouges.

Bishop’s (1-6) offence was stymied throughout the game. Jaeden Marwick made 8-of-10 passes for 81 yards, while Mathieu Demers connected on one of his 10 passes for eight yards. Vincent Davignon attempted eight rushes but only gained a total of eight yards.

MONTREAL — Samuel Caron threw for 150 yards and two touchdowns as the Carabins (6-1) kept pace with Laval in the RSEQ standings thanks to a sound victory over Sherbrooke (3-4).
