LONDON, Ont. — Marc Liegghio’s rouge point with 5:30 left to play in the fourth quarter lifted the Western Mustangs over the rival McMaster Marauders 19-18 on Saturday in Canadian university football action.

The win gives the Mustangs a 7-1 record, and secures not only a bye into the provincial semifinals, but grants Western home-field advantage throughout the Ontario University Athletics playoffs.

McMaster (6-2) finished third in the OUA standings and will host the sixth-seeded Guelph Gryphons in a quarter-final contest next week.

Liegghio was 3 for 4 on field goals and kicked a convert in addition to the rouge as the Mustangs won their sixth straight. Chris Merchant was 16 for 26 for 185 yards at QB.
