NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series:

Last Race: Saturday Night August 17th: Bristol Tennessee: the usual bash-fest! Mid-packer Matt DiBenedetto found out earlier in the week he was losing his ride, but he charged to the front to lead close to 100 laps before damage from contact with Ryan Newman killed his handling and Denny Hamlin got by for the lead with 10 to go for his 4th win of the season. DiBenedetto 2nd, best career finish and best finish for the Leavine Family Racing.

CUP points into Darlington: Kyle Busch ( 4th ) leads Joey Logano ( 16th ) by 39. Just 2 races: Darlington and Indianapolis remain in the regular season.

Next Race: Sunday September 1st: Darlington SC. Just Darlington and Indianapolis remain in the regular season before the playoff begins.


NTT IndyCar Series:

Last Race: Sunday August 18th: Pocono Raceway, Long Pond PA: IndyCars at Pocono PA! Messy! A big 5 car wreck on the first lap that took out Oakville’s James Hinchcliffe caused a 45 minute red flag. Most blame Takuma Sato for making it 3 wide with Alex Rossi and Ryan Hunter-Reay in a place that wasn’t going to work. Then with 72 laps to go threatening weather calls it and Will Power scored his first win of the season. Scott Dixon 2nd, Simon Pagenaud 3rd. Hinch tried to come back out but IndyCar parker him permanently.

Points into Gateway: Josef Newgarden ( 5th ) leads Alex Rossi ( 18th ) by 35.

Next Race: Saturday August 24th: Gateway St. Louis. Just 3 races remain for the season.


Formula One World Driving Championship:

Next Race: ( Summer Break ): Sunday September 1st: Belgian Grand Prix, Spa Francorchamps.

Last Race: Sunday August 4th: Hungarian Grand Prix, Budapest: Red Bull’s Max Verstappen took off from the pole with Mercedes Lewis Hamilton in hot pursuit. Hamilton pitted twice for new while Vestappen only stopped once for fresh sneakers. With Max’s tires done by lap 67, Hamilton waltzed by for the win, his 8th of the season to pad his points lead. Verstappen 2nd, Sebastian Vettel 3rd Canada’s Lance Stroll: just watching, 17th.

Points into Belgium after the summer break: Hamilton leads Bottas( Horrible race ) by 62. Mercedes leads Ferrari by 150 in Constructors.

Next Rally: September 7th: Rallye Defi, Montpellier Quebec.

Last Rally: June 30th: Rallye Baie Des Chaleurs, New Richmond Quebec: Joel Levac and Stephanie Lewis had a near flawless run to the top step of the podium by 3 minutes over defending champs Carre’/Joyal. All driving Subaru WRX STi’s.

Last Rally: August 4th: Rally Finland: Ott Tanek with his 3rd win in 4 starts to pad his points lead.
