June 14 2019

From the first-overall pick last June to the final whistle of the Stanley Cup Final, the 2018–19 NHL season was one of big events, big moves and big news. This special episode relives it all.

The Season in Sound was produced and mixed by Amil Delic. Associate producer Maria St. Aubin gathered the lion’s share of the clips. John Grigg and Rory Boylen provided storytelling support. A big thanks to all the outlets we sourced audio from.

June 13: A Cup 52 Years In The Making
June 13 2019

Pop the corks, St. Louis has won the Cup! Ryan and Rory dissect the first Stanley Cup Final Game 7 in nearly a decade and cover all aspects of the Blues' amazing run to the first championship in team history.

The boys also discuss what the future looks like for both Boston and St. Louis, and hammer home the idea that - when you get this close to the Cup - you better win it, because it's getting harder and harder to win four rounds each year.

After the break, Hall of Famer Eric Lindros stops by to discuss Ontario's new concussion awareness campaign (www.ontario.ca/concussions) and dishes on his former career, before Ryan and Rory wrap things up with a lookahead to the offseason.

This episode is produced and sound engineered by Shoaib Alli, and hosted by Ryan Dixon and Rory Boylen.

The Stanley Cup Final may still be raging, but the off-season rumour mill is already in full swing. Ryan and Rory examine the intriguing situation developing around UFA-to-be Erik Karlsson, who is said to be interested in playing for a team that would get him closer to the Ottawa area. The boys also discuss ongoing developments with the Toronto Maple Leafs, who may suddenly be relieved of some salary cap commitments if they do indeed find new homes for Patrick Marleau and Nikita Zaitsev.

Sportsnet's Luke Fox drops by the show to talk about the two unshakeable teams still in pursuit of the Cup. In addition to discussing Boston's outrageously good power play, Luke explains the genesis of his photo with rapper Lil Nas X and how it's tied to the NHL working hard to reach new audiences.

Finally, Ryan and Rory address Edmonton's decision to make Dave Tippett the team's next head coach.
