Tape To Tape NHL Podcast: Nylander fallout, Kessel rumours, name Seattle's team
December 07 2018

Welcome to the league, Seattle. On the heels of the Board of Governors' vote, Ryan and Rory discuss what the next round of expansion will look like, and what the NHL's newest team might be called. They also talk about the RFA fallout from William Nylander's deal, who might be a trade partner for Pittsburgh if the Pens do want to move Phil Kessel, and if there's any way the sorry Chicago Blackhawks would consider moving real core pieces. Lastly, Ryan sits down with Canadiens beat writer Eric Engels for an in-depth, big-picture conversation on the Habs.

Tape to Tape NHL Podcast: What's the next move for Flyers, Oilers?
November 29 2018

This week on Tape 2 Tape, Ryan and Rory kick things off by reacting to the big news of Ron Hextall losing his job as GM of the Philadelphia Flyers. Who will replace him and can we expect a return to the days when the Flyers seemed to be in the middle of every hot rumour in the league? They also examine the Ken Hitchcock-led Edmonton Oilers, explain why the Golden Knights' recent turnaround was to be expected, and take a stab at whether or not the L.A. Kings could find a new home for Ilya Kovalchuk. In the final segment, a conversation about how William Nylander's contract squabble could be a preview of things to come on the RFA front as big-time players like Patrik Laine, Mikko Ranatnen and Matthew Tkachuk near the end of their entry-level deals.

Tape to Tape NHL Podcast: Surprises and disappointments at the quarter mark
November 23 2018

A quarter of the NHL season is in the books, and Sportsnet.ca's Luke Fox joins Ryan and Rory to talk about what we've seen so far in terms of surprises and disappointments around the league. Surprises include the Minnesota Wild hanging tough in the Central, while the Buffalo Sabres are making noise in the Atlantic, and the Ottawa Senators are holding out hope for their young stars. At the other end of the spectrum, the Panthers are breaking Rory's heart again, Luke can't believe how bad the Blues have been, and Ryan dumps on the defensive play of some Canadian teams. Finally, the guys predict what we'll see in the next quarter of the season, including a scoring spike for Max Pacioretty, where William Nylander will land, and how Ken Hitchcock could help the Edmonton Oilers.

Tape to Tape: Trades, Playoffs Changes, and Injury Armageddon
November 16 2018
Ryan and Rory have a trade to talk about! Tanner Pearson is headed to Pittsburgh, while Carl Hagelin is bound for the west coast and the Kings: what does it mean for each club, and how will the players blend in their new surroundings? The guys also break down the injuries coming fast and furious, and the current (and potential future) playoff format for the NHL. After the break, members of the Sportsnet.ca newsroom stop by to throw some questions at the boys in a game of 'Would You Rather?', and in the final block, Rory decides it's time to anoint a certain trio the best line in hockey.
