MacIntyre: In 48 years, Canucks have never had this many good prospects
July 06 2018
Sportsnet hockey reporter Iain MacIntyre catches up with Jawn Jang and Mira Laurence on Canucks Central to break down the Summer Showcase at Rogers Arena last night, essentially a scrimmage at an orientation camp. Which means, cut the kids some slack. Expectations are huge for Quinn Hughes, and the prospect played fine though likely still suffering from a bout of food poisoning. He's not worried and things Hughes will prove to be a special player. He shares his opinion of Tyler Madden, Petrus Palmu, Kole Lind and Michael DiPietro. "More good than bad out of last night... In 48 years, they've never had this many good prospects at one time." On the way and in the NHL are two different things, however.

The Canucks prospect joins Satiar Shah and Brendan Batchelor at the rink following practice as development camp continues this week. "Last year I was very nervous coming in," he says, but now he's more comfortable and able to be creative and also lead, "welcoming those new guys in as well." Playing out the close of the AHL playoffs in Utica, he got a lot from seeing how physical and prepared the pros are. "The summer is a big stepping stone in getting stronger and getting quicker."
