Brian Burke: After Knights wins the Cup, real test is how they perform next year
May 23 2018
Sportsnet analyst and occasional hockey exec Brian Burke joins James Cybulski and Perry Solkowski to talk about the latest GM moves and assess the season as a whole. Kyle Dubas is "a real sharp, young guy" who was promoted by a smart man who knew the risks of losing others within the Leafs organization. The business is predatory, he says. "You find a group you can make deals with... and you start making deals." He talks Evander Kane, "big, hostile and can score goals," and the fate of Barry Trotz in Washington, and also the many things Vegas did right that Seattle can learn from (with luck).

Ovechkin making a run at the Cup with team-first, not me-first, attitude
May 22 2018
Nick Kypreos joins the conversation mid-debate as James Cybulski, Perry Solkowski and Rick Dhaliwal discuss NHL contracts. He calms the fray by making a decision on whether Mitch Marner and Auston Matthews deserve the same deal. Alex Ovechkin is a more mature player who less about individual performance and more about the team. "He's really changed his image... he is trying to get that Stanely Cup." What more Maple Leafs leadership lands with the Islanders? Mark Hunter wants to be a GM, that's been made clear, and there will be more than one team interested.

Todd Bertuzzi on Golden Knights: They have character, not cast-offs
May 22 2018
On this Bertuesday, the retired NHLer joins James Cybulski and Perry Solkowski as if to "remember the 2000s," he says. They talk about why the hockey player acting cameos and marvel at his problem-free golf game. A pensioner's life, amirite? The Capitals took their Game 6 to a whole new level and the Lightning appeared to gas out. Vegas winning is absolutely a good thing. "It doesn't matter how it was built... you've got to take your hats off to George McPhee." What Vegas has is character, not cast-offs.
