The Belleville Senators‘ front office has decided to switch things up.

Ottawa’s AHL affiliate has relieved head coach David Bell of his duties and has elevated assistant coach Andrew Campbell as the interim head coach, the team announced on Wednesday.

In parts of four seasons with the club, Bell had a record of 97-78-15-11 since taking over as interim head coach on Feb 3, 2023. He was officially named the full-time head coach on May 2, 2023.

“We are constantly evaluating ways to improve our organization and felt the timing was right for a fresh voice and approach in Belleville,” said Ottawa Senators general manager Steve Staios. “We thank David for his time and commitment in Belleville and the Bay of Quinte and wish him well in his next opportunity.”

Campbell, who will now be taking over as the team’s bench boss, has been an assistant coach with Belleville since July 2024.

Before that, the 37-year-old served as an assistant coach with the OHL’s Hamilton Bulldogs.

Belleville currently sits fifth in the AHL’s North Division, with a 11-14-3 record. They head to Rochester to take on the Americans on Friday.
