The Toronto Blue Jays claimed pitcher Emmanuel Ramírez off waivers from the Miami Marlins on Thursday. Ramírez has been optioned to Triple-A Buffalo.

In the corresponding move, RHP José Cuas has been designated for assignment.

The news comes two days after the 30-year-old Ramírez lost his place on the Marlins’ 40-man roster. The native of the Dominican Republic posted a 6.97 ERA over 15 games and 20.2 innings with Miami this season.

In August, Ramírez, who made his major league debut in 2024, was optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville. With the Jumbo Shrimp, the right-hander recorded a 3.76 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 51:16 K:BB across 40.2 innings.

Cuas, also 30, has made four appearances for the Jays after being claimed off waivers from the Chicago Cubs in June.
