The Toronto Blue Jays are sending a reliever to a division rival.

Left-hander Brandon Eisert was traded to the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for cash considerations, the teams announced on Thursday.

Eisert, 27, was designated for assignment on Monday to make room on the 40-man roster for free-agent addition Anthony Santander.

In three games with Toronto last season, the Portland, Ore., native allowed three earned runs and five hits in 6.2 innings while walking four.

Eisert posted a 3.86 ERA in 42 appearances with the triple-A Buffalo Bisons last season.
