The Vancouver Canucks have assigned forward Vasily Podkolzin to the AHL’s Abbotsford Canucks, general manager Patrik Allvin announced Wednesday.

Podkolzin has not played in the Canucks’ first-round series, despite travelling with the team. He will re-join an Abbotsford squad in the Calder Cup playoffs as they take on the Ontario Reign in Round 2.

The 22-year-old has split the 2023-24 season between Abbotsford and Vancouver, getting 19 games with the big club, registering two assists. In 44 games with AHL Abbotsford, Podkolzin has 15 goals and 13 assists for 28 points.

The Canucks selected him 10th overall in the 2019 NHL Draft and he’s suited up for 137 career NHL games.
