Claude Giroux is remaining with the Ottawa Senators.
The veteran forward is signing a one-year contract extension and will avoid free agency, the team announced on Sunday.
The deal has a base salary of $2 million next season and can be worth up to $4.75 million based on performance bonuses.
“Claude brings veteran leadership and a competitive edge to our group and has been a consistent presence on and off the ice,” Senators president and general manager Steve Staios said in a statement. “We are excited to bring him back next season.”
After spending parts of 15 seasons in Philadelphia, Giroux signed a three-year deal with Ottawa prior to the 2022-23 campaign. In those three seasons, the 37-year-old played all but one regular-season game, recording 71 goals and 193 points.
He registered 15 goals and 35 assists in 2024-25.
The 18-year veteran scored 365 goals and logged 1,116 points over 1,263 games, and added another 29 goals and 86 points across 101 playoff games.
