Calgary Flames forward Matthew Coronato is expected to make his NHL debut on Wednesday against the San Jose Sharks and goaltender Dustin Wolf may also join the club for the game.

Coronato signed an entry-level contract with the Flames on March 26 after completing his sophomore season at Harvard. The 20-year-old scored 20 goals and 36 points in 34 games with the Crimson this season.

Calgary picked Coronato 13th overall in the 2021 NHL Draft. He has been with the team since signing but has not suited up in a game as the team chased a wild card spot.

After losing 3-2 to the Nashville Predators in a shootout Monday night, the Flames are officially eliminated from playoff contention, opening the door for Coronato and Wolf to play in their first NHL games.

Wolf, 21, has been a standout goalie in the AHL over the past three seasons. In 2022-23 he has helped the Calgary Wranglers to the first seed in the Pacific Division by posting a 41-9-2 record with a 2.08 goals against average and .932 save percentage.

Calgary selected Wolf in the seventh round (214th overall) of the 2019 NHL Draft.

The Wranglers are scheduled to play Wednesday against the Abbotsford Canucks.
