The Calgary Flames will have to take on Sidney Crosby without the services of Jonathan Huberdeau.

Huberdeau was ruled out of Wednesday’s game against the Pittsburgh Penguins with a lower-body injury, the team announced. He is listed as day-to-day.

Taking Huberdeau’s spot in the lineup will be forward Martin Pospisil, who will make his season debut.

Pospisil, 26, was placed on the long-term injured reserve at the start of the season after missing the final pre-season game with an undisclosed injury.

The Slovakian centre tallied four goals and 21 assists in 81 games last season and was rewarded with a three-year, $7.5-million contract extension in the off-season.

After a 28-goal season last year, Huberdeau has struggled to maintain that pace in 2025-26. Through 44 games, the 32-year-old forward has recorded just eight goals and 13 assists.
