Defenceman Zayne Parekh will have some extra rest before September’s training camp.

The Calgary Flames prospect will not participate in the remainder Team Canada’s World Junior camp as a precautionary reason as he works to recover from a lower-body injury, the team announced Tuesday.

The Flames added that he is expected to be a full participant in training camp.

Parekh, 19, participated in two full practices with Team Canada at the Summer Showcase.

The Nobleton, Ont. native had 33 goals and 173 points for the Saginaw Spirit in the 2024-25 season, adding two goals and nine points in five playoff games.

He made his NHL debut in the Flames’ regular-season finale against the Los Angeles Kings, where he scored a goal.

The Flames selected Parekh ninth overall at the 2024 NHL Draft.
