The Carolina Hurricanes have signed forward Max Comtois to a one-year contract, the team announced Monday.

The deal is worth $775,000 at the NHL level and $250,000 at the American Hockey League level through the remainder of the 2023-24 season.

“Max is a physical forward with lots of NHL games under his belt,” Hurricanes president and general manager Don Waddell said in a release. “His experience at this level will add to our organizational depth at that position.”

Comtois has 12 goals and 28 points in 45 games with the AHL’s Chicago Wolves this season.

The 25-year-old from Longueuil, Que., was drafted in the second round, 45th overall, by the Anaheim Ducks in 2017.

He registered 38 goals and 86 points in 210 games over five seasons with the Ducks.
