The Carolina Hurricanes have signed goaltender Cayden Primeau to a one-year, $775,000 contract, the team announced Tuesday.

The six-foot-three, 205-pound netminder has played a total of 55 NHL games with the Canadiens, posting a 13-24-7 record, 3.69 GAA,.884 save percentage and two shutouts in that span.

Primeau has also represented the United States at the 2019 IIHF world championship, 2019 IIHF U20 world championship (silver) and the 2017 IIHF U18 world championship (gold).

He was originally selected by Montreal in the seventh round (199th overall) of the 2017 draft.
